Nestled in the heart of West Covina, Peppe's Pollo offers a vibrant and authentic Colombian dining experience that transports you straight to the flavors and warmth of Colombia. This family-run gem, located at 1209 S Glendora Ave, is celebrated for its rich traditional dishes that celebrate the bold, hearty, and comforting tastes of Colombian cuisine.
At Peppe's Pollo, each plate is a journey through Colombia’s culinary landscape. Popular dishes like the Bandeja Paisa — a generous platter bursting with chicharrón, rice, beans, ground meat, and plantain — evoke the essence of Colombian comfort food. The Mondongo and Sancocho de Pollo are soul-warming stews that leave a lasting impression with their deep, savory broths and tender meats, perfectly capturing the spirit of home cooking. For those seeking something uniquely Colombian, the Mocilla Con Yuca and Empanadas de Carne are crispy, flavorful bites that tease the palate and keep you coming back for more.
Don't overlook the incredible variety of traditional beverages that complete the experience. Refreshing juices like Jugo de Guanábana, Lulo, and Maracuyá offer sweet, tangy, and tropical notes that pair wonderfully with the hearty dishes. The creamy Avena and comforting Mazamorra con Panela provide cozy finishes to your meal, evoking the authentic tastes of Colombia’s countryside.
The atmosphere at Peppe's Pollo is as rich as its menu. This cozy, unpretentious neighborhood spot is imbued with the warmth and friendliness of the family that runs it — Don Jose and his wife are known for their gracious hospitality. As one long-time patron, Art Sevilla, puts it, “If a conversation isn’t happening while you’re waiting, you are doing it wrong.” This is a place where great food and genuine connection intertwine, ensuring every guest feels like part of the family.
Though the interior is modest and could benefit from a refresh, the authentic flavors and attentive service more than compensate, making it a beloved local favorite. Customers like Erik Santos rave about the “baked belly and the bandeja paisa,” calling Peppe's “the best place for Colombian and Latin American food.” Others, like Karen Valderrama, found that their dishes — from the Sancocho de Pollo to the Bandeja Paisa — rekindled cherished memories of home-cooked meals and family traditions.
For those in search of genuine Colombian fare, Peppe's Pollo delivers with every delicious bite. Whether you're indulging in the savory Chuleta de Cerdo or savoring tropical beverages crafted with care, this restaurant is a heartfelt celebration of Colombia’s culinary heritage. Affordable, flavorful, and deeply satisfying, Peppe's Pollo is more than a meal — it's a welcomed embrace of culture, family, and unforgettable taste.
The best place for Colombian and Latin American food. I was amazed by the baked belly and the bandeja paisa. Highly recommended.
The Colombian Empanadas are AMAZING! However, the interior needs a major upgrade but the food is good.
Great people and amazing service. If a conversation isn't happening while you're waiting, you are doing it wrong. Don Jose and his wife are lovely, hard-working people. The food we ordered, bandeja paisa and sobrebarriga, were flavorful with healthy servings. Everything reasonably priced. Strongly recommend. A taste of Colombia.
Bandeja Paisa is my favorite. it is just meat, chicharon, rice and beans. Try the Chuleta as well. Come join this amazing family business.
I had been craving Colombian food for a while and stumbled upon this hidden gem. I love places like this because they always have the most authentic and flavorful food. and this spot did not disappoint! I ordered the sancocho de pollo, and it was absolutely delicious. the flavors took me right back to my grandma’s cooking. My partner had the bandeja paisa, and he devoured it. was that good! The décor is a bit old-fashioned, but honestly, I didn’t mind. I came for the food, and it delivered. The sweetest elderly couple runs the place, and their warm service made the experience even better. I’m so grateful to have an authentic Colombian restaurant in the area since there aren’t many nearby. I’ll definitely be back!
Delicious food Mondongo and bandeja paisa was so good.
The food is amazing! Feels like home, service is great, we did not wait long for food at all. First time coming and will def coming back.
A small family friendly restaurant with delicious food, empanadas are the best we've had from a Colombian restaurant. We ordered a bandeja paisa, fritanga, sancocho de cola y pan de bono jugo de mora y lulo en agua. Parking is spacious because the restaurant is within a plaza along with other businesses, the dinning area is somewhat small to accommodate large crowds, however we did see people ordering a lot of take out. The owners are sweet and kind people. A very hardworking family
